A busy yet quiet week--Sunday September 4

Sunday Post was conceived by Kimberly at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

coffee cup photo: Free digital Photos
Good morning, all! (*checks time* Yep, morning!) I hope everyone is doing good this fine Sunday morning. *Raises coffee cup* I am.  Boy it was a slow week here. What's that? Oh you heard. Yes, Tuesday we had a little visit from the Hurricane Faery. The bit--was kind to us, though, thankfully. She just pis--er, dumped a whole lot of rain on us. Our friends to the north weren't so lucky, and if you happen to somehow be reading me from one of those counties (I hope you have your power back by now!) my thoughts go out to you. I remember one particular hurricane season that took our power for two weeks. It wasn't so bad, except it knocked out the pumping station. Let me tell ya, I could take the heat and darkness, but that ...was not fun.

Anyway, luckily, for us here in our tribal grounds, we didn't get much but rain and wind, but we didn't even lose any tree limbs. Only 12 more weeks of hurricane season to go. Hang in there, my friends!

On the reading front, of course, I did more. :) This week I've added The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd to my reading pile. I enjoyed her books The Mermaid Chair and The Secret Life of Bees years ago so I finally got around to picking up the last novel she wrote. So, looking forward to that. I do feel a little burnt out on fiction, so I'll be switching to my non-fiction pile here for a bit. (Speaking of, I keep meaning to add that I acquired Traitor's Curse by Beth Trissel (Romance), The Shadow Rises by K.S. Marsden (paranormal),  Witch's Cursed Cabin by Marsha A. Moore (new adult PNR), and  Triumph of the Moon by Ronald Hutton to my TBR pile. I got that from a friend a few weeks ago and just keep forgetting to add it to these posts. First impressions? The formatter should be flogged--the text is teeny tiny! *laughs* But I'll dive into it, nonetheless.Oh well.  Here I am trying to whittle down my piles and I keep adding more. *innocent look* Who, me? A book hoarder? :)

Oh, and I received a tea sample from Mia that smells divine. I can't wait to try it!

And I received a copy of the Moon Phases Oracle that I ordered. :) It arrived quickly, I must say. I'm glad I was able to find it; this looks to be the last printing!

What I'm reading right now:
I started Rake and Romance by Suzanne G. Rogers and read a little more in Michael Moorcock's City in the Autumn Stars. I'm not sure why that one's taking me so long. I enjoy the tar out of it. I think it's because it's part of a heavy anthology. Something. Or maybe because I like the characters, love the world, I don't want it to be over yet! ;) I'm about halfway through it and continuing on...

Blogging

As you know, I posted a few more "tarot exploration/perspective" posts. and  outside that, I uploaded a PaganYoutube Challenge video to my youtube channel, if you'd like to take a peek, and recorded a second I need to upload.  And I had a guest this week:

Bewitching Book Tour--and my guest Rayna Noire covering her new release Glimmer. The post comes with a giveaway so don't miss out on that.

By the way, the giveaway for my novel Watchmaker's Heart post that keeps getting retweeted on Twitter (???), that is long over. Sorry about that folks. But if you'd like the book's still available on Amazon or to borrow if you have Amazon Prime.

And my other posts:

Vigil of the Bulls by Jolene Dawe--Review.

Top Ten books I'd want my students to read (Which is actually more like a top 20!)

I also popped up a little addendum to my first post on the Ace of Pentacles.

And one on the Two of Wands that almost rounds out the Tarot Perspective challenge.

I did a little finishing up of a manuscript I've been working on forever...for the last four years. I have a proof copy of my next book winging its way to me. And...that's the extent of my week! I hope y'all had a good one.

#Free on Kindle--paranormal romance--Passion's Sacred Dance

Good morning, everyone. I hope you're doing well. I am. I know, I know, I posted nothing last week, that was because, you see, I've been busily writing guest posts and doing some footwork for my own book. But now, here I am. I just had to let y'all know that something special is going on in my writing life. Yes, you guessed it from the title, didn't you? My publisher, The Wild Rose Press, has put my first paranormal romance novel PASSION'S SACRED DANCE,free on Kindle, this week (September 24-28). As in right this very second! Eep!!

Here's the blurb:
Unless Stacy Macken can stave off her creditors, she may lose her renowned history center. Yet she knows in her heart that the center is sacred and what a catastrophe losing it would be. How much of a catastrophe, she hasn't a clue.

Until Aaron Fielding arrives with his tales of magical guardians and the Tuatha dé Danann, sworn warriors from Celtic legend who protect humanity from a wicked enemy seeking their destruction.

Is the end of the world imminent? What can she, a modern woman and her warrior lover, possibly have to offer when a long-prophesied druidic mythic battle explodes around them?

The book trailer, if you'd like to see it:

The book is available at Amazon to borrow for free with Amazon prime or to buy in kindle and paperback.

Please spread the word for me. Tweet it endlessly, share it on Facebook, Pinterest, Add it to your Goodreads "to be Read" shelves (or Free book shelves if you happen to have them), spam your friends. ;) (Just kidding about that last part--yuck, yuck! ) Right now, it's #free, #free #free. Anything you can do to help me spread the word, it'd be helpful! (I really need your help here, gals and guys, seriously. *help*! ) I'd like to see this how this turns out! TYSM!

review: 11:15: Making of a Halfling

Cover design and illustration

by JaraZambrano
11:15: The Making of a Halfling by Heather Burch New angel, Vine, is working on obtaining his wings, but he’s still got much training to do. In the midst of one training session, they receive a call from Heaven to check out a local rock concert.

There’s something funny going on there.

Vine and company arrive and can’t see what’s got the head office all in an uproar. Until they stumble on the right niche.

Yep. Someone wants the concert to end with a bang, and it’s up to Vine and company to help save the auditorium full of unsuspecting teenagers. But what can he do? He still hasn’t earned his wings yet—or has he?

Short stories are always a bit of a challenge to review, but I enjoyed this and look forward to reading more. The story is punctuated by delightful comic book panels depicting the events of the story. If you’d like a taste of Heather Burch’s new young adult paranormal romance series by Zondervan, this will give it to you. It’s available for Kindle and Nook, (only in ebook formats, I mean) so you’ll have to hit barnes and noble.com or Amazon for it--or yes, even Ipad.

Did I mention it's free?

Anyway, if paranormal romance is your thing, check 11:15: The Making of A Halfling out. I think you’ll enjoy it. Heather's on Tour right now, this weekend she'll be in Tennessee. Tour dates and places for the next few days are here: http://warmerdaysdarkernights.com/tour/

So, if you're in the area, stop by and see her.

Heather Burch on Facebook .
For an extra treat, here's Heather's Youtube interview with Teen Read Week, from back in March. Enjoy!

Free at Amazon--Beth Trissel

Free at Amazon–The Bearwalker’s Daughter (Historical Fantasy Romance) | One Writer's Way.

Romance author Beth Trissel's novel is free today at Amazon.com (for Kindle). Historical Fantasy romance fans, you might want to  check it out. :) Blurb follows (from Amazon):

Timid by nature—or so she thinks—Karin McNeal hasn’t grasped who she really is or her fierce birthright. A tragic secret from the past haunts the young Scots-Irish woman longing to learn more of her mother's death and the mysterious father no one will name. The elusive voices she hears in the wind hint at the dramatic changes soon to unfold in the mist-shrouded Alleghenies in Autumn, 1784. Jack McCray, the wounded stranger who staggers through the door on the eve of her twentieth birthday and anniversary of her mother's death, holds the key to unlock the past. Will Karin let this handsome frontiersman lead her to the truth and into his arms, or seek the shelter of her fiercely possessive kinsmen? Is it only her imagination or does someone, or something, wait beyond the brooding ridges—for her?

(A revised version of romance novel Daughter of the Wind)
