New review for House of Dark Envy

Hi everyone. I hope you're doing well. I am writing my fingers off and will have a new book for you soon! Literally fingers off. I ended up hurting again Friday and Saturday and had to take a few days away (so no typing blog posts for me!).

I also got whacked with a little sideline research that I have no idea what I'm going to do with except that it's one of those things that may or may not be only cool to me. What, if anything, the ole muse makes out of it, only time will tell.

Grr... But the book is in it's final final pre-flight check round, and I hope to have it done... before or after July 4th.

In the meantime, I've found a great review for House of Dark Envy that I wanted to share with you.

From Twitch at Night Owl Reviews:

"I found the story between the pages to be a great read. I cannot help but like the history lessons in some of the story lines. I had no clue how the story or mystery was going to end. Overall there are great twists and turns...I would actually love to read more from this author." ~ Twitch

Cool, huh? Thanks, Twitch and everyone at Night Owl Reviews. :)

Folks, if you've read, and enjoyed the book, please leave a review at Amazon (or on your blog, or both). More are always welcome!

The Ice Captain's Daughter by S.G. Rogers

The Ice Captain's Daughter.
 by Suzanne G. Rogers
(This book was a personal purchase)

In Best selling author Suzanne G. Rogers’ newest release, The Ice Captain’s Daughter, an historical romance, when eighteen year old Miss Jillian Roring is accosted on her way to her first “Season” in London, MacKenzie Logan comes to her aid. Learning that she is far from home, he offers the beleaguered young lady one of his guest rooms. But when Jillian’s aunt and Uncle learn she’s spent the night alone with the reputed rogue Logan, they insist the couple marry to cover up any resulting scandal.   Jillian herself is anything but blemish-free, being the daughter of the famed Ice Captain. How could Logan accept her when all London looks down on her for that? How could her family accept the scandalous Logan, when rumors swirl about the break-up of his last love affair?

But already taken with her charms, Logan agrees to the betrothal. Jillian, on the other hand, isn’t so sure this is the best of decisions, declines and goes home with her aunt and uncle. Besides, the more she learns of Logan, the more unsure Jillian becomes, Rumor is he left his ex-girlfriend to chase women, and she’s heard he and his friends have made bets on who will capture her heart first!

Well, you know how rumor is…Maybe one of the gossipers still has it out for ole Logan. For his part, Logan won’t be discouraged so easily, until Jillian can learn the truth and decide for herself. As for her attackers…where did they get off to? And what happened to Jillian’s maid, who the thief sent home to fetch her uncle and aunt? The one they say never arrived? You’ll have to read to find out.

You know, I love Ms. Rogers' stuff. This is no different. Her Regency Romance debut, The Ice Captain’s Daughter is a delightful Young Adult novella, well-researched and with some surprising elements. Coupled with Rogers’ signature hint of humor, I think her new title lends something to the sometimes stuffy genre of Regency Romance, that may hook a few younger readers to the genre. If you enjoy sweet, lighthearted romance, Suzanne G. Rogers’ The Ice Captain’s Daughter you’ll find it, as I did, for sale currently at Amazon for Kindle, for $.99.

I hear tell Ms. Rogers’ is about to release a follow-up to this delightful tale, so now would be the time to check it out.

Excuse me while I happy dance--new release

Posting everywhere and sundry, I know but...

For those that don't know..... I'm excited to announce my lil ole first novel is up live, for sale. On Amazon at least. If you'd like to take a peek, it is available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Itunes, Smashwords, and Createspace.

Synopsis:
Trevor and Caitlin were once happy newlyweds, profiting from Trevor's art. Until Trevor inherits his brother's house, and with it, his part of an old Welsh family curse. Now, Caitlin will stop at nothing to save her beloved husband from insanity and suicide, even if it means she must embrace her destiny and become a witch.

I hope you will enjoy it!

I'm waiting for confirmation from Barnes and Noble that the book's gone live there. Sorry Nook friends, they're a little slower than I expected. As soon as I have that link, I'll post it for you.

I've been waiting a long time to announce this so please, indulge me a moment to do a happy little Snoopy dance around the circle, so to speak. :)

Please, if you know anyone that enjoys paranormal fiction, share the link around. Book Two in the Antique Magic series will be released soon-like....I don't want to promise a date. I'm writing fast as I can. I hope before Xmas, but don't quote me on that. I'll keep you posted. Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy the story. *beams*

Update and Author Blog-in: The End of the World Sucks

Deception Cover Art
Hi again. Happy Sunday. :) I hope ya'll are having a good weekend. We are. I've been writing my little fingers off. Working on a new book and getting ready to release my first!  Nothing on the new books pile this week. I'm still reading those several from the library I told you about last week. Interesting stuff. For you YA fans,  I am almost finished with Heather Burch's Halflings, so look for a review of that, soon, and I'm still reading Deception by Lee Nichols.

Enjoying it too. Word of caution, if you have it on your TBR list? Do not look at the last pages of the book. I made that mistake and saw a major spoiler that had me going "OH MAN!!!!" *headdesk* Why do publishers *do* that????

Oh, well....

I saw this via my mail *waves to Kate Policiani* and thought y'all might find this dystopian novel interesting.

via Author Blog-in: The End of the World Sucks «.

Also, via Library Girl reads and reviews, I saw there's a .99 cent sale going on on some good  books--Ann Charles and Terri Giuliano Long just to name a few. Check it out here.

And that's me for this weekend. Back to writing. Working on Book Two....:) Details soon, patience, grasshoppers!

Self-publishing with Rosalie Lario

And also, if you're interested, over on my wordpress blog (this is mostly for the writers here) I put up a little ponderance on the subject of Self-publishing, musing on the interesting observations author Rosalie Lario has talked about on her blog.

And don't forget, Rosalie will be here on June 20th. :) We are looking forward to bringing her post to you, now that the hand's finally healed. *sheepish grin*

Shelia, I hope you feel better soon!

Meet Senior Editor Selina McLemore

This is an interesting post I found (thanks, Julie!) at the Ninc blog about how an editor works (and chooses new authors!). Thought other budding authors might find it so too.
Meet Senior Editor Selina McLemore

For Jaci, and other budding synopsis writers. :)

Hey, you were asking about writing Query letters, the other day? Pub Rants has a great example here, as does Fantasy author  Lisa Shearin, here; also check out RomCom/Momlit/Mystery author Kathy Carmichael's examples. Even if the sample queries are not in the genre you write, believe me, I hear every little bit helps.

Posted story for Haiti Project--acceptance

Hi everyone. I hope y'all are well, not too cold. :)

Yes, I have some news. Crossed Genres accepted my short story "The Captain's Merciful Death" for their compilation of "posted stories for Haiti relief" project! :) Go to their site *points at link*, and you'll find my name (Julianne Draper), click through and you can read the story. :)

http://crossedgenres.com/haiti/

Yes, it's not an *actual* publication, but I'm tickled, and hopefully it can help out some of those folks in need.

Love,
Juli
