Guest Post Cynthia Woolf's latest #historical #romance COLORADO BRIDE #newrelease #IARTG

I hope y'all are having a good day. I am. It's my pleasure to bring you another guest post today. A friend of mine has a new book release so I invited her to tell us a bit about it. Please take a look at and enjoy historical romance author Cynthia Woolf's latest release, COLORADO BRIDE.

BLURB for COLORADO BRIDE

Emily Loring survived the last few years as a governess to a rich family's children. But when the lord of the house can't keep his hands to himself, she's left with no option but to risk everything as a mail-order bride. Raised in a New York orphanage, she's always dreamed of a husband and children of her own, but even that small dream always felt out of reach. The city is all she's ever known, but the promise of a family, a place to call home, drives her to risk everything and head for the wilds of the Colorado Territory, and the arms of a stranger.

Ben Logan fell in love once, to a city girl who left him at the altar to run off with another man. A mail-order bride appears to be the answer to his need for a wife to warm his bed, as long as she loves the country life as he does. He doesn't need much, but he won't risk his heart again. When Emily arrives, her curves tempt him nearly as much as her smile. But his ex-fiancée is back, and determined to have Ben for herself, even if it means murder...

EXCERPT:

While Ben unloaded the grain from the wagon, Emily walked over to one of the stalls. Inside were a beautiful golden horse and a pure white baby one.
“They’re so beautiful. The mama with her yellow coat and white hair on her neck is striking. Will the baby stay white or change color?”
“The mare is a palomino and, yes, more than likely, the colt will gain the same coloring as he gets older. But he could possibly stay white, which is what I’m hoping for.”
She turned to face him where he stood at the end of the wagon.
“Will you teach me how to ride? I don’t know anything about horses, but I believe that I should learn in case I need to go somewhere.”
He shrugged. “Sure I’ll teach you. I’m surprised you don’t know anything about ranching. I was pretty specific about it as one of my requirements.”
“You said you wanted someone with farming or ranching experience, I know how to milk cows and gather eggs which qualifies, and I’m willing to learn whatever else I need to. I’m a fast learner.”
The mare came up to the stall gate where Emily stood. She turned and reached over to pet the horse. Her nose and mouth felt like velvet.
“Oh, she’s so soft. I never imagined…”
Ben came up behind her.
“Her name is Champagne, because of her coloring. She doesn’t belong to anyone yet. Would you like her?”
“Oh, yes. Can she really be my horse?”
He must at least like me or he wouldn’t gift me with my own horse, and such a beautiful one to boot.
“Yes.”
She turned and Ben was standing right there. Emily reached up, snaked her hand behind his neck and brought his head down to hers. Remembering the kiss he’d given her at their wedding, she mimicked that kiss. She meshed her lips with his and opened just enough to put her tongue out and touch his lips. She felt him smile and open for her exploration.
He let her take what she needed, let her control the kiss and she was pleased. When she finally pulled back she was breathless and her body hummed with awareness of him.
He held her with his arms wrapped loosely around her waist.
“Well, that was some kiss, wife.”
“Just following your lead…husband.”
She liked the sound of that. Husband. She’d begun to believe that she’d never marry and certainly never to anyone like Ben. His arms were strong with muscle, she felt them through his shirt. His stomach was flat and hard. She felt that, too. And she could tell his manhood was primed for her as well and knew she blushed.
“Now, look at what you’ve done to me. I can’t go to the house like this. You better stop kissing me.”
She smiled and shook her head. “Nope. You can ask a lot of things of me, but that isn’t one of them. I’ll always kiss you. Even when we fight, I’ll kiss you because no fight is worth my marriage. And kissing reminds us that we are married.”
“All right, I agree. Besides, I like kissing you.”
She raised an eyebrow and cocked her head. “You should. I only know what you taught me.”
He tightened his hold on her. “And that pleases me.”
“Why? You’ve kissed other girls and that doesn’t bother me. Why should it bother you if I’d kissed another man?”
“Because I want to know that I’m the only man in your life, at least until we have sons.”
The thought of having babies and how babies are begot made her blush. At this rate she’d be colored pink all the time.

Poor Emily. *g* Sounds intriguing though, Cynthia!   Good luck with it! For more on Cynthia, keep reading. :)

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Cynthia Woolf is the award winning and best-selling author of thirty historical western romance books and two short stories with more books on the way.

Cynthia loves writing and reading romance. Her first western romance Tame A Wild Heart, was inspired by the story her mother told her of meeting Cynthia’s father on a ranch in Creede, Colorado. Although Tame A Wild Heart takes place in Creede that is the only similarity between the stories. Her father was a cowboy not a bounty hunter and her mother was a nursemaid (called a nanny now) not the ranch owner. The ranch they met on is still there as part of the open space in Mineral County in southwestern Colorado.

Writing as CA Woolf she has six scifi, space opera romance titles. She calls them westerns in space.

Cynthia credits her wonderfully supportive husband Jim and her great critique partners for saving her sanity and allowing her to explore her creativity.

Haven of Evil by Melvin Rivers--Bewitching Book Tours--paranormal #horror

It's my pleasure today to introduce you to horror author, Melvin Rivers. He's just released his latest book and since we're getting closer to Halloween (*rubs hands gleefully*)I asked him here to tell y'all a little about his love of Halloween, how he celebrates, and to share a little about his new paranormal horror novel HAVEN OF EVIL. Take it away, Melvin!

Halloween begins on October 31 of every year. It’s the day kids get dressed in costumes and go door to door saying “trick or treat” with the hope of receiving some goodies. As for myself, Halloween begins on the first day of October.  I enjoy celebrating this holiday all month long. I head to the market and buy pumpkins, curve scary faces into them and sat them in my yard. From there I go to dollar stores and even bigger retail stores and purchase things such as plastic skeletons, coffins, and other props such as witches and vampires. I put these items in my yard next to the jack o lanterns.

Once my displays are finished, I sat on my porch and watch the neighbors marveling at the sight. Also the Halloween season, is the time when leaves change colors from green to orange and the weather get a tad cooler. This is the perfect setting to read my favorite horror novels by my favorite authors. There’s nothing like sitting on the porch on a cool brisk day eating a bowl of popcorn reading a scary book in front of the Halloween display while orange leaves fall off the trees onto the ground.

Although the Christmas season has classic movies such as It's a Wonderful Life,” Miracle on 34th Street,” and Christmas in Connecticut,” movies shown during the Halloween season aren’t too shady either. Every night during the Halloween season, I stay glued to my TV enjoying movies such as “Dracula,” “The Wolfman,” and of course John Carpenter’s classic “Halloween.”

The season is a great time to visit haunted things. All season long haunted attractions such as houses, museums, and cemeteries are at their peak. There is always a supposedly haunted place (or perhaps a real haunted place) to visit during this time of the year.
Finally, during the last day of the Halloween season on October 31, I passed out candy to the little witches, vampires, and angels that come knocking on my door saying “Trick or Treat.”
When do you begin celebrating Halloween? And what do you do to celebrate it?

  Excerpt:

He turned to walk back home. A woman in a black dress stood a few paces in front of him. The woman’s eyes were black marbles embedded in a sunken face. Her white hair hung down over her shoulders like spaghetti strings, and there were more cracks in her face than there were on a broken sidewalk. A foul stench seemed to follow her around – the scent of rotting meat.

Kevin grimaced and held his nose. The horrid odor clung to him like stench on a decomposed corpse. “What in the –”

“Leave that place now,” the woman’s voice gurgled.

He took a step back, fanned his nose, and spat. “You’re the woman I almost hit on the road.” He narrowed his eyes and scratched his head. “How – I mean, what in the –”

“Don’t give in to the dreams or listen to him. You can’t defeat it.” She turned and pushed her way through a hedge of high bushes to the right of the highway.

“Miss, what are you talking about?” He pinched his nose to keep the woman’s stench at bay and followed her through a stretch of woods, coming to an open field. A steep hill was not far away. “Hey, Miss, where are you?” he called, looking around. She was nowhere in sight.

She’s obviously crazy. I wonder if her family knows she’s out here. If she has family at all… he fanned his face and blew out a breath. That smell… how did it get on her?

Squawking came from somewhere above him. Kevin looked up to see hawks circling the area as if they owned it.

Kevin started up the hill when a hawk swooped down. He ducked. The bird soared past him and came up squawking, wings flapping and beak open. Kevin covered his face with his arms and ran. The animal’s talons, long and sharp, reached for his arms. Kevin sidestepped to the right and caught hold of a wing. He hurled the hawk with all his strength. The bird fluttered wildly before flying away.

He sat and breathed heavily while watching the sky in case the hawk came back. After resting, he climbed the hill and surveyed the view. There was, on the other side of the hill, a cemetery – the biggest he had ever seen. Headstones, grave markers, and crosses spread out over at least five-hundred acres. He descended the hill for a better view. Something snapped and he fell.

“Oh, shit!” he screamed. He clenched his jaw against the pain and fought to keep back tears. He pried the mouth of an animal trap from his leg and staggered to his feet, managing to limp a few feet before falling again. He winced in pain.

A hawk flew down and perched on a headstone.

I’m going to die only a few yards from a cemetery. At least they won’t have to carry me far.

The bird raised a wing as if it was ready to attack.

“No, I’m going to fight. I refuse to die out here,” Kevin said under his breath. He struggled to his feet. A knife-stabbing ache went through his leg. He went down on one knee. He slowly shook his head back and forth. “Must go on.” He got to his feet and glanced at the headstone. The hawk was gone. He hobbled to the hill.

I can make it if I crawl. A shadow loomed and covered the area in front of him. He heard heavy breathing from somewhere nearby. He stood still, balancing his weight on the uninjured leg. Something began snarling. He turned around slowly. Two menacing black eyes stared into his.
