review: Seeking A Scribe by Marsha A. Moore

In fantasy romance author Marsha A. Moore’s popular novel Seeking a Scribe, Lyra, a world-weary teacher moves back home to take care of her dying aunt. As she settles into her new home, she encounters an interesting bookstore. When she goes back for a second visit, however, she notices the store doesn’t seem to be in the same location. Once inside she encounters Cullen, a handsome gentleman, and one she’s sure she’s met before. She’s right, and he has in his possession a special book she hasn’t seen since her childhood.

 He’s also got a tale to tell, one of a world where a dark dragon holds the land’s inhabitants on the edge of war. Lyra alone can stop him, but to do so she’s got to traverse this land, and write a book about her adventure—and have someone read and approve it. And she only has a limited amount of time. In the midst of all that, she’s distracted by the handsome Cullen and her budding feelings for him.

Marsha A. Moore has built Seeking a Scribe into a much more complex tale than I can explain in this short amount of space, so you’ll have to read it for yourself to get the full story. I certainly enjoyed it and I think fans of traditional fantasy and fantasy romance will as well.

In the interest of full disclosure, Marsha A. Moore is a good friend of mine, we've had lunch together on many occasions and I heard all about the book even before she'd finished writing it. I even got to see various versions of Marsha's covers, which she designed and painted herself. :) When the book released I went out and bought my copy and if you've followed my reading for any length of time, you know it takes me a while to get through books. That doesn't mean Seeking a Scribe is slow, it's not. All in all it's an intriguing story and I look forward to delving into the follow up novels.
