Sunday post on Monday.

Sunday Post was conceived by Kimberly at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Dang, this accidentally went live! (Some weird keystroke made blogger post??? I hate keyboards sometimes.)

Scratch not posting a Sunday update on Sunday. At least, it wasn't supposed to go out. Quick update for this Sunday/Monday. Sorry about that, folks. I really did have more to say! A little, anyway. Of course, that means more typing and ...well, we don't want to talk about what all the typing this week has done to my wrists and forearm. (ouch!) Perhaps a little Photoshop work too can share the blame, but anyway.

There hasn't been a whole lot going on. Just trying to finish up a new book. I'd meant to have it ready to release by now, but no such luck. I'm hoping I can get it up on Amazon by Friday, so stay tuned. We'll see. That is, if my muse can stop tweaking. It's been quite a hot summer here already so I hope you'll forgive me, but staying inside and writing (and editing) seems like the way to go!

Did some reading, too. I finished up a Christine Feehan I've had on the tbr pile for a while. It was okay. I picked up a couple audiobooks to listen to: Jessamine's Folly and The Ice Captain's Daughter both by Suzanne G./S.G. Rogers. Also  The Alchemists of Loom by Elise Kova. I've seen good things about it around Twitter here and there and so thought I'd give it a shot. I also got Midnight Marriage by Lucinda Brant, and The Summer Queen by Elizabeth Chadwick. I've been into Eleanor of Aquitaine for years, I've just never read this book. I had some credits at Audible, though, so I thought, why not try it?

Now you know the reason one of my harshad warriors is from the Aquitani tribe. ;)
I also got LAURA'S LOCKET by Tima Maria Lacoba

At any rate, writing, editing stuff  kinda keeps me busy and away from pop culture news.  Yeah, that. Still reeling from the news about Chris Cornell (see this recent post.)

I do have a little book news to share, though, I told y'all already about the audiobook of LADY OF THE TAROT, well... The Reign of Tarot duology is now available as a boxed set! Check it out on Amazon.

Other recent posts:
Memorial Day.
Music Monday on Sunday (which I posted just above.)

That was me. How was your week?

Music Monday on Sunday

Yes, I (like so many of us) was shocked to hear of Chris Cornell's death this week. So sad. I always considered him one of the best singers out there. Truly up there with the greats--Robert Plant, Ann Wilson and the like. Chris' voice blew so many lesser talents away and his lyrics just had so many layers of meaning to them. *sighs* When the whole Grunge thing was going on I staunchly maintained he and Soundgarden were unfairly overlooked when the publicity juggernauts were given out by the music overlords.  They deserved way more popularity than they ever achieved. Yeah, I loved his work. Soundgarden, Audioslave (especially), his solo stuff, you can bet I have it on constant repeat, right now. #ripchris

I should've posted that on Monday but I was too shocked to think of what to say more than ohmygodohmygodohmygod! Such a shame. He will be missed.

Top 4 things that make me crazy when I read....

If you're wondering what these posts come from, I'm following (unofficially) this set of prompts here.

Top 4 things that drive me crazy when I read

Okay, you guys. Small disclaimer, I do hope I don't shoot myself in the foot with this post. It asked, I have opinions. (Those that know me know, oh, lordy, do I have opinions!!!) So with that small disclaimer in mind.... Things that make me crazy in reading....and I guess a little bit in writing too.

#1 Every girl wants to have a baby!

Thank you, No! I am happily child free. No children for us. Gives me way more time to write. :) This absolutely ruined Friends for me. The chick gets pregnant--or believes she must get pregnant otherwise she'll not be whole? Nope. I'm out. Feh. CLICHE! No.No we don't, Hollyweird/NYC. Thanks all the same.

#2 Torture or rape, after which the characters fall in love.

Gag me. Sure you can tell me the heroine's been tortured or raped in the past, but I'd rather not see it. And if she falls in love with her rapist and "reforms" him (don't laugh, I could, but I won't, name you some books I've read where this happens--in the Romance genre. Not the horror genre, mind you), no. Just no. No. Do that, I'm out.

#3 Witches are evil/wear black/wear robes/wear pentacles/own cats/casts spells that fill the air with swirly colors and sparkles....

OMG, don't even get me started. Okay, I love wearing black, but that came before, you know *whispers* I found paganism. And look, some of us don't even use the term witch--or wear pentacles...or own cats. And just once, just once, I'd like a nouveau fantasy movie/tv show to let the magic happen with no visual representation. Snap their fingers, maybe; twitch their noses, okay. Swirly colors and smoke and sparkles? What is that, even? Disney, again? (Yeah, yeah, Cait's magic has a color; some cliches have to be, begrudgingly, used and Cait's magic has a lot of "kitchen sink" stuff in it.  My harshad warriors ... don't, though, do they? No. No they don't....not yet, anyway.)

#4: Stereotypes. Okay, I guess #3 above qualifies to go here, but there are other stereotypes that are used far too often that drive me the crazy, so they deserve their own number. Some you're probably not going to believe. Some have become so overused in the industry they're downright clich├ęs. Take a deep breath now. Agree to disagree... Ready?

a): All girls love to collect shoes.

Where the hell did this one even come from? Sex in the City? Look, I don't live in NY, I don't live in a high rise, I don't lust over guys in suits--and I only wear shoes when I fricken need to. I hate wearing them. The only time I put them on is when I'm leaving the house--and then, it's tennies. (and there was this one time, I left in my Crocs, instead of my actual tennies.) I tolerate boots too but they're more for practical reasons, because...well, let's just say they stay on my feet better. But I'd much, much rather go barefoot. All girls love shoes? CLICHE!

b) Southerners are podunks, beer-swilling, gun-totin', pickup driving, country music lovin', sports fan, hillbillies/hicks.

*GAG SPLUTTER RAGE* Can we just drop this one, please? I am living proof that NONE of those apply. (Okay, maybe the country music, if you count Jason Isbell, Drive By Truckers, and Shovels & Rope as country) but I also prefer Metallica, and have been known to listen to Enya and jazz, blues and classical. The rest? Nope. I don't resemble that at all. Neither do many of my southern-born and dwelling friends. (Especially those of us with college degrees.) Have the southerner host an art opening for once, or take his girl to the symphony without whining, and checking his phone for the latest sport stats, please?

There are more that I could add to this list but I fear I've already bored you. *eg* So those are my top 4 things that make me crazy in books. How about you?

My less than 7 guilty pleasures. #blogging #blogger #BloggersBlast

If you're wondering what these posts come from, I'm following (unofficially) this set of prompts here.
Seven Guilty Pleasures.

Oh, my 7? I don't know if I really have 7. Ever since I've been on my own, (lo from years ago), I admit it, I pretty much do what I please. *thinks* Guilty pleasure.

Well, books (that's a no-brainer for an author, innit?), which extends to ebooks.

Music. Y'all know this, if you've followed my blog. I love all kinds of music and have amassed a  collection over the years.

Nail polish. This one is a love/hate relationship. I've always had trouble with chipping to downright peeling. I've spent you-don't-want-to-know how much on everything from the expensive ones, to the drugstore $1 ones, and nothing stays on my nails perfectly for longer than a day, maybe two at best. Feh. This one, after years of trying, I'm giving up!

A bath in a bathtub. Yeah. We have one,but as most of the things about my life the plug....doesn't exist that would fit this drain. So have to finagle a plug, hence, we use the shower more than we use the tub. In fact, I think I only go through the trouble if I have a really bad backache--which, thankfully, hasn't happened in a long time. *knock on wood*

Tea. I have been drinking a lot more tea this year than usual. It's Mia's fault. While one of my grandmothers used to drink nothing but tea, Mia's teas have hooked me more, lately, than ever. :)

Finally, tarot cards. Yep. In the last year or so I've been studying the subject and amassed a collection, more than I really need. I have stopped myself lately, though. *hides Amazon wishlist* Yeah. Nary a tarot card deck purchase this year.

Okay, I could only come up with six. Those are mine. What are yours?

blog banner, Sunday Post blog banner, author Juli D. Revezzo's blog, paranormal romance author, fantasy author, pagan paranormal author
Sunday Post was conceived by Kimberly at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Just a quick note this Sunday to let y'all know, one of the things I've been working on this year has finally come out. Thanks to the wonderful talent of narrator Christina Marie Morris, my Gothic paranormal romance novel Lady of the Tarot is now available in  audiobook! Yaaaa!!

If you'd like to hear a sample, you may do so with the player below:

If you'd like to purchase your own copy, the audiobook is available through Audible, Itunes, and  Amazon. Enjoy!

And please, if you enjoy it, please leave a review.

So, yeah, that's what I did this week. :)  Also, working, as ever on new stuff for your reading pleasure. We did some work in the yard, just clean up. I think my husband and I got out of it without triggering the allergies this time! ;)  So, that's what I did this week.

No photos really to show you.  But I did pick up one book this week:
Love, Lies, and Hocus Pocus: Beginnings (The Lily Singer Adventures, Book 1)

Blogposts from the past week.

Just one. Beltane 2017.

That other new book (WIP) I mentioned, in the last few weeks? Yeah, it's coming. Stay tuned! But in the meantime, I hope you enjoy Lady of the Tarot.

Beltane 2017 #MayDay2017 #Beltane #Mondayblogs

Queen Guinevere's Maying by John Collier, 1900

Blessed Beltane, my friends. May your early summer be merry, productive, and mild. I love this painting.  It reminds me of the "Lusty Month of May" song/scene in the Musical Camelot.

For us here, it's already warm  (it was 93° yesterday, y'all!). But yesterday morning, it wasn't too bad to keep out of the garden. Not a bad way to commemorate Beltane eve, honoring Blodeuwedd and Flora. :)  I cleared out some of the (very) dead flowers and added some new pretties. Unfortunately, not Hawthorne, (I don't even think I've ever seen that in our local nurseries!) I did bring home some purple flowers--bugleweed and Mexican heather.

Bugleweed
Ajuga reptans

Yes, lo and behold, I was able to pick up something with a magickal use at a local nursery. It's not every day that happens. :) I haven't found much about it beyond a few simple mentions around the web, (that it might be horehound [which, since Cunningham doesn't mention the name "bugleweed" at all, I'm not total certain of], that it's associated with Venus, and love and beauty) but I'm still looking. I'm a happy little pagan today.

For the week, I'll be babying them a bit and as for writing, I plan to finish the follow up to Druid Warrior's Heart and get it off to my editor soon-like.

(Oh, and if you're interested, the spring-return-related PNR Passion's Sacred Dance is on sale for one more day!)

For now, though, may your Beltane be mild and joyful! :)
