Monday Monday

Hiho. I meant to post yesterday but had a day of a massive headache. That a walk cured, but then it came back. Grr.... And? I forgot my camera on said-walk, so no pictures! :( (What, you're asking, don't you have tons?)

But it's Monday, so let's recap, shall we? The music of the week. I've got "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley stuck in my head again. Blame my hubby. He got a Marley t-shirt this week with Three Little Birds on it and now that song's playing in my head.

I've been editing, again, as usual. If you saw my newsletter today, you know what that was. :)  It feels good to get back into the story, even if it's only editing it because ....shew, last week was a no writing week and I'm not too fond of those! I'll show you what else I was working on, fairly soon, here. Patience, my friends.

(However, I am going to say I failed on Camp Nanowrimo, again. I meant to participate more than one day, but then revisions pulled me away. At least I have some something started that I hope will turn into something worth a damn before the end of forever.)

But I posted a review up on my book blog. Yes, I finished another in my challenge list. So that's good, right? If all goes well, I'll have another finished by the end of the week. Possibly before. I'm also reading...well, several things, but one specifically off my list of books I got last year: Betrayal's Price  by Lisa Blackwood. What do I think of it? Too soon to tell definitively, but so far, I'm enjoying it.

Let's see... Well? There's really not all that much to report for this week. I guess I'll move on to the books I've procured this week.

First, remember my Kindle woes from last week? *snaps* I gave up. I sort of had to, would you believe the elastic in the cover was giving me allergy fits? Yep. At least, I think that's what it was.

So, I went out and got a new one. It's not the edition I wanted, but a step way up from what I had so, so far, I'm happy with it. I hope this one will last a couple years. *knock on wood* We'll see.

and The Dragon Rider's Daughter by Suzanne G. Rogers.

Well,herm... Looks like, other than those two, not much. Oh, I got a few things today but they weren't "last week" so I'm going to save those. Keep y'all in suspense. :) In the meantime, just know the pile grew, and meanwhile, I've shaved a few more off it. I think the tower is the same height it was last week, that way. Maybe a hair taller. *sheepish grin*

And for the blog posts from last week, a little post on:

Youtubers I enjoy.
Shows I bingewatch.
(That last was from the week before, actually).

Oh, and I updated my newsletter last night. I hope y'all got it. :) You don't want to miss the goodies, this time out. You'll find the form there in my side bar or here. Anyway, that's about all the musings for today. Have a wonderful Monday night, friends!

Youtube babble and favorite Youtubers #amwriting #blogs #BloggersBlast #pagan #favorites

Speaking of Youtube (which I brought up here this weekend), with the weather getting... (nigh unbearable) warmer again, I might make a few more vlogs this year. That was on my Bloggiesta list, too but I didn't get a chance to fit them in. We'll see how that goes. The Pagan Youtube Challenge is on again but it's focused on a topic that, well, I already covered so I bowed out. I thought about the new challenge, but, nah.  (First of all, I can't even find the damned thing, right now, to link it up for you, so that seems a sign from Themselves, as ever, to stay out of it.

But, I've been watching quite a few channels lately, I find myself pulled toward the pagan/tarot ones, more than anything. I particularly enjoy Tarot by Arwen. Arwen's videos are always fun. I enjoyed her interview with Joey Morris of Starry Eyed Pagan.

And of course, on Youtube and instagram, I've been watching out for Ethony's Spreads. She's got a new one up, her, new moon in Aries spread. (Although, I hate to do it, but a quick search of google tells me to correct one of her opening lines. Ares and Aries aren't related at all, so says this article in Gods-and-monsters.com . I knew that didn't sound right. (Sorry, Ethony. *cringe*)

Then there's my new latest stalk (er, subscription): New Aged Hipster. And, as I mentioned above, Starry Eyed Pagan also, Itty Bitty Celtic Witch, and obviously, The Sea Priestess. I like her monthly tarot blogs too. (ah, there's the challenge!) For Non pagan stuff, Orna Ross. Some of her videos are informative and...well, I just enjoy most of what I've watched. I really love Ted Forbes' The Art of Photography. (yes, his Nobody cares About Your Photography video went viral, no it's not about what you think it's about. He titled poorly. Words mean things. The Work that Matters and Creative Doubt videos are  even better). But his videos are fantastic. So inspiring!

Okay, back onto the subject. I may (or may not) make a few more videos this year. We will just have to see. As ever, writing comes first. I've got a couple writing related biz things to tackle this week, for HOUSE OF DARK ENVY so for now, I'll let you out of here. :) (Maybe I should put them down for CampNanowrimo--which I probably won't be participating in this April, but still). That's what's on my Youtube and "thinking about doing" list, this week.

How about y'all? Got any favorite Youtube channels? Have a good week, everyone!

Shows I binge watch.

Got another one for you. Q prompt: What shows do you like to watch?

Technically, I guess I don't binge watch much. I do more reading than watching. Yes, believe it or not even when my hubby's watching something on television (and he does a lot more reading than watching TV, too). We have long since given up on cable (too damned expensive) and so we're stuck with a few stations. We do have many movies though, so we tend to watch a lot more movies than television.

There have been series I have loved over the years though, and some are back on some of the second run stations. Namely? Star Trek. I wasn't around for the first run of the original series and it's fun to see it on again. One of our stations runs the original through Enterprise all evening long, and I must say, of all the series,  I am a fan of:

http://www.startrek.com/

Moreso even than I was when it first aired (still want Janeway to shoot Tom Paris and Neelix out a torpedo tube though! My hubby wants it more than me, even! *lol*), But it's a great show. Love Janeway. :).

I also tried to keep up on Reign, because I liked it, what can I say? Mary's interesting, I'm not sure I like how they treat Elizabeth I, but I do like Mary. But... as usual, digital reception is hit an miss (let's face it, it sucks!) and we can't keep that station in to save its life, but for on odd occasions. Except, I did get to see it this last week, so. Wooohoo! It was fun while it lasted. Keeping my fingers crossed for next week's episode.

Aside from that... well? I enjoyed Gilmore Girls when it was on television. (Please, please, please Netflix,  release the newest season to DVD!) We have, of course, collected all those DVD's. I haven't done a binge watch of it in a while but it's there if we wanted to. I also loved...Once Upon A Time.

It was, ahem, once upon a time, quite original. Loved Snow White, loved Emma Swan, fell in love with Mr. Gold, (and yeah, one of my books owes a little of itself to the show). But unfortunately, I think they went off the rails a few seasons ago. Repeating the same schtick over and over isn't the way to keep my interest and they've done that ad nauseum. But I do try to keep an eye on it.

And, lest I forget? Sleepy Hollow. Why? One reason: Crane. :) Well, okay, I loved Abbie too, but... Crane. History buff that I am, I just love it when he starts filling in the blanks for his partners. Now that they've moved it to Fridays, I keep missing it though! Eep!

Other than that? Meh. I haven't found much worth a binge. What do you recommend that I might be overlooking?

Exciting week of reading and research...

Sunday Post was conceived by Kimberly at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Happy Sunday morning.  I hope you had a good week. We did here. I spent most of it with my nose in a book as I had one I wanted to finish. Title? Grace Unleashed by Suzanne G. Rogers. In a nutshell, I enjoyed it. :) You can see my review for it here. I haven't decided yet if changing the tags on that one from S.G. Rogers to Suzanne G. Rogers will muck anything up, so I haven't tried it. Wordpress being a somewhat different animal than, well, most static sites, I don't know. So you'll find all her books I mention under the older version of her name there. (Had an interesting conversation with her regarding our shared influences. :) Enjoyed that very much and yes, added a few names to my to be read list. I'm never going to get through that thing, am I?)

Other than that... herm. We got, and have been binge watching, Rogue One. Gods, I really, really love that movie.  I still think, had that one, and/or Force Awakens, come out in the 70s, I would've been a much bigger Star Wars fan.

Really, there's not much to report. Oh!  I finished off a novella and sent it off for one final polish read. And we do have a title....*drum roll please* Frigga Lost Army.

That should be releasing, erm, soon. I hope to have it back before the end of April, so probably not too long after that. Early May? Depends on my final reader and what she finds. So, stay tuned. I'll keep you posted.

On other writing news
(I told you I didn't do much this week that's exciting!) I've also been doing some research reading for a book I'm currently in the early plodding/plotting out stages. Hope to get that done sometime this year. We'll see. It's looking like it's going to be another that's going to make me pull its teeth. And I signed on for Camp Nanowrimo in hopes of finishing one other that's ... about 60% of the way there. We'll see which of these two end up getting how far through this month.

Posts that I've done in the last few weeks:
 Yeesh! My common Writing Mistakes.
Good Titles are Hard Magic
Bloggeista Fail

Books I've picked up.
I've been having a little trouble with my old Kindle lately and it's been giving me fits! For one thing, I can't delete anything from the damned thing. I've complained to Kindle about this; they basically said, "Get a new Kindle" and "Tough s--". :p Not good for business, y'all! So, if you're having trouble deleting something, um... I haven't come up with a solution. Light a candle at the new moon, jump up and down like the Easter bunny, three times, in a circle? *shrugs* I don't know. But I'm in the market for a new one because, even though it can hold a ton of stuff, you know, I use it for my business and I'd like it to work the way it used to. (That's the goal right now for my Patreon too, actually, if you'd like to support it.)

Ahem. Rant over. Anyway, so I haven't been trawling Amazon much. However, I did pick up:
Winner Takes All by Meg Mims (personal purchase)
Daughter of Chaos (Red Magic book 1) by Jen McConnel (freebie)
The Secret of Isobel Key by Jen McConnel (personal purchase)
both these looked very interesting, as much so as their author. :) It's nice to find new-to-me pagan fiction authors now and then.

Star King by Susan Grant
Star Princess by Susan Grant (still free)
A Knight's Temptation by Catherine Keane
(These last three were free, for some reason, at Amazon this week--Star King and Knight's Temptation are no longer free. And I see more and more authors are giving away middle stories. Did I start a trend? ;))

Also, the audiobook to Larken by Suzanne G. Rogers.

Okay, maybe I have been on the Kindle more than I thought. Anyway, so that's what I got.  Adding to the ever-growing pile.

And yes, the title of this post is ironic. The stories I've been reading are exciting, but sitting butt in chair reading and typing away? Not so much. But it is part of my writing life, and y'all know how much I love that!So how was your week?

Yeesh! How embarrassing--My common writing mistakes #amwriting #blogs #BloggersBlast #WritersLife #HowIWrite

If you're wondering what these posts come from, I'm following (unofficially) this set of prompts here.

My Common Writing Mistakes.

Common writing mistakes, is it? Who me? *g* Of course we all make mistakes, right? I am no exception, however anal I am about my edits of my editors' edits of edits. I've made them, it's true.

My most common mistake? One that I think might make my readers laugh (okay, chuckle. Okay, maybe just smile?): I have been known to be indecisive about character names. So much so, I've changed names of minor characters  up to the day of release.

It's so common of me, there was this one time, seven or ten years ago, when I sent a manuscript out on submission rounds (back in ye ole days of snail mail, mind you) with a major character's name spelled two different ways. Not sent out once that way, I sent it  multiple times before I noticed it. *blush*

In my defense, said manuscript was a science fantasy romance, and the dude in question had a very uncommon name. We're not talking Tom, Dick, or Harry here, folks. (which, I see far too often in SFF books these days. Authors? Stop it. Don't baby us. I've been reading SFF more years than I can count, and I like Mixiepilic type names in my sff, thanks you! er, how is his name spelled?) So this character's name was something ... different and unusual. Stuff your spell check is likely to drop dead over. :)

Of course, I've toned my character names way down in recent years, but you're still likely to see unusual from me--Sinjon and Linton, anyone? Maribelle? Felix? Ianthe? Arianrhod? (Although, in Arianrhod's defense, she's an historically-recognized Welsh goddess, so I kind of had no choice on her part--actually both she and Ianthe are).

You get my point.

Anyway, yeah. I've done that: Misspelled character names are a common mistake for me. Ugh!
