Mickie Sherwood--Christmas Crush #guestpost #romance
Wow, can you believe we are looking at Christmas already? Where did this year go? Well, since December is here I thought I'd invite a friend around, romance author Mickie Sherwood, to tell y'all a little bit about her family traditions and her latest release. Mickie, take it away!
Decorating for Christmas is a tradition in my home. However, one aspect has changed. The Christmas candles display is no longer a feature. No, I don't mean the grownup-scented kind of candle. Let me show you what I mean.
The menagerie pictured above was collected over many years. Back then, I used them as a decoy.
First, I would cover the coffee table with a festive tablecloth. Then, the Christmas candles were grouped to form holiday scenes. For instance, I would arrange a house, Christmas tree, and Teddy Bear Santa together. For snow on the ground, cotton balls did the trick. The scene was as pretty as a picture on a Christmas card.
Those candles were kiddie magnets. The kiddies loved to create different scenes and did so whenever they felt like it. I loved that the candles kept their grubby, little fingers off the other decorations. So, everybody was happy with that tradition.
Christmas Crush is my sweet romance. Ashley Wagner allows her daughters to spend the holidays abroad, closing the door on one tradition. Yet, the chance to start a new tradition happens when another door opens and in wheels Craig Johnston.
Although Ashley Wagner feels more like Scrooge than Santa, she keeps her promise and accompanies her sister back home for a Christmas wedding. Her three-day weekend is off to a rocky start, thanks to the unexpected run-in with her womanizing ex-husband, and his very pregnant new wife. She manages to get away with her dignity intact, but later, with old wounds ripped open, the professional crisis manager ends up in the middle of her own life-altering predicament.
Then, sports journalist Craig Johnston, wheels to her rescue.
Will Ashley spend Christmas brooding over bitter memories? Or will Craig, a dynamic paraplegic, present the deserving divorcée with a gift she can't resist?
Scene: Ashley dances with Craig at a Christmas party.
The melody playing affected her mood. First, she laid her hand in Craig's upturned palm. Ashley felt a burst of energy pass between them. She had no doubt the tingly sensation pricked him too. His fingers tightened around hers. Craig urged her into a clearing big enough for his wheelchair.
Ashley was set to do a side-to-side glide, when he wound his arm around her waist. Amusement in his eyes prepped her for what was to come. The next thing she knew, down she went. Her hiney was all too familiar with that warm spot.
"Trust me." His voice was gruff.
Craig's meaning was transparent. Fireworks burst behind her lids when she closed her eyes. "I do trust you." As proof, she draped her arms around his neck and let her head rest on his shoulder.
Visitors, what did Craig do next?
