Want to know more? Here's an excerpt!
It’s one in the morning, and the last guests have gone. Other than the cleaning crew, Brian and I are the only ones left in the ballroom. I know we need to leave, but I can’t bear the thought of standing up and trying to walk out of the room, down to the garage and then to the car. I think my feet might literally fall off. “You’re going to have to carry me out of here,” I tell Brian, and he gives me a wicked grin in return. “I was planning on it,” he says, and he stands, takes a deep breath, and lifts me right out of my seat. I yelp and throw my arms around his neck as he carries me out of the room and over to the elevator, barely showing any strain at all. He has to put me down once we get to the elevator, though. “I need a free hand,” he says, hitting the “up” button. But the garage is – oh. I should have known. “You booked a room.” He nods. “And you told my parents we wouldn’t be home tonight.” Another nod. It’s all part of the fantasy, I guess. He’s been imagining that he’s James Bond all night, and after a glitzy evening at the casino, James Bond doesn’t hop into the minivan so he can get home, walk the dog and collapse into bed. No way. He takes his conquest for the evening up to the five-star hotel room, where the champagne is already waiting. On ice, no doubt. The bell dings, he ushers me into the empty elevator, and as the door closes, I feel my fatigue suddenly, instantly, drain away, and I’m all over him. I may not be a fan of those movies, but I know how they go, and it’s not as though I need much of an excuse to throw myself at my husband. By the time the door opens onto the third floor, I’m panting and extricating my hands from his tuxedo jacket. “You woke up in a hurry,” he says, panting himself, pulling his hand off the zipper of my dress, which is already halfway down my back. “Well, I know what you were thinking, and I also know that no girl can resist James Bond, right?” By way of an answer, he leads me down the hall, opens the door to our room, picks me up again and deposits me on the bed. In seconds, he’s finished the job of zipping me right out of my dress, and his tuxedo is in an undignified mess somewhere on the floor. After that – there’s no more thought, just feeling, just his hands and his lips and his – his everything.

Jan DeLima--The Supernatural Elements of the Celtic Wolves Series andthe Celtic Heritage of Its Characters #giveaway

Jan DeLima tour banner I am pleased, today, to introduce you to a fine urban fantasy author, a lady who writes characters with a Celtic flair. Y'all know how much we love that around here! ;) (With ancient Celtic tribes involved? What's not to love!) So without further ado, let me turn the floor over to Ms. Jan DeLima and let her tell you about one of our (mutual, it seems) favorite and inspiring Celtic collections, The Mabinogion. Rea on (and don't miss the Giveaway details at the end of this post!)

Jan, the floor is yours.

The Supernatural Elements of the Celtic Wolves Series and the Celtic Heritage of Its Characters

Jan De Lima

Thank you so much for inviting me to your blog, and for participating in my first blog tour!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with my Celtic Wolves Series, just imagine a place where warriors are also wolves and reality isn’t always what it seems. Set in modern day, the stories are a mixture of both urban fantasy and romance. Written for adults, each installment has strong fantasy elements built around Celtic folklore, with a secondary romance between two new characters.

The idea for the supernatural elements of my series came to me while working in the cataloging department of my local library when a book on Celtic artifacts crossed my desk. It reviewed findings and theories of Celtic beliefs from Celtic art, with depictions of men shifting into wolves. Intrigued, I dove into researching Celtic mythology and found more material than I could possibly imagine on wolves and shape shifting. Let’s just say my paranormal writer’s radar was dinging loudly. Once the research started, my characters demanded a place in this magical world.

During my research, references from The Mabinogion frequently appeared. The Mabinogion, also translated as The Mabinogi, is a collection of Celtic folklore from medieval Welsh manuscripts, including The White Book of Rhydderch and The Red Book of Hergest. It is theorized that the manuscripts were written around the 1300-1400s, and they include stories of the Otherworld, along with the earlier versions of Arthurian legend. You can learn more about The Mabinogion on its Wikipedia page at, but I recommend that you verify facts at your local library as well. Marriage, shape shifting and wolves are common themes in many of the tales. Wales is the home of fantasy, of dragons and King Arthur, and tales of the Otherworld. Their Celtic mythology mirrors many of the Irish versions, and it’s such a rich culture to draw inspiration from for my characters.

Nature was, and still is, an important influence for Celts. The magic of my world is based on their beliefs; therefore, nature is where my Celtic warriors derive their power to shift. Because of this, I make sure the wilderness setting of the books is real, even if what the characters do within it isn’t.

In Celtic Moon, the first book in the series, I pair an ancient Celt with a mortal human who is unaware of his heritage. This was a natural way to bring his history to readers through my heroine’s questions, and the dynamic between the two was magical to write. Dylan, the hero in this story, was born AD 329 in pre-Christian Europe. The Celtic Goddess Ceridwen is mentioned in The Mabinogion. She is also a character in the series, along with Taliesin. Because Ceridwen is associated with transformation, the balance between light and dark, and also with motherhood, I use these themes throughout the books.

Please know that I do have graphic elements in my books: battle scenes, love scenes, and some shocking scenes as well—memorable ones usually are. But I will leave you with one of the more a tender scenes from Celtic Moon, the first book of the Celtic Wolves Series.

Thank you again for inviting me to talk about my series, and for the wonderful topic suggestion!

All my best,

You're most welcome, Jan. Thank you for coming by and we wish you the best with your series! Folks, do read on for a little bit more about the Celtic Wolves and you'll find the links for her giveaway at the end.

Excerpt from Celtic Moon:

Dylan’s steps were almost silent as he approached, not that it mattered; Sophie sensed his presence more than she felt the racing of her own heart. He leaned down, his chin brushing the side of her cheek, smooth from a recent shave. “What are you thinking about?”

Cool air radiated off the window and she let her forehead rest against the glass. “That I never thought I’d be standing here again . . . in this room . . . with you.”

“You belong with me.” A soft statement filled with quiet conviction.

She sighed, not so sure. “Before I agree to stay, I feel I must be frank with you.”

“I’m listening.”

“I have come to accept a few things about myself. My instinct to protect our son is not rational or reasonable, and sometimes . . . it’s even cowardly and selfish. But it will never change. I will always put Joshua’s welfare before all others, even my own, by any means necessary.”

“You should save your breath, if you’re trying to warn me away.” His hands lifted to her shoulders, warm and gentle as he turned her. The glare from the window reflected off his black gaze; a glint of hunger moved from within before he pushed it back. “I have begun to realize why the Goddess has chosen to favor you, my human wife, who not only accepts both the dark and light aspects of herself, but also embraces them—in order to protect our child.”

My human wife? “You’re not going to stop calling me that, are you?”

“No.” His hands tightened on her shoulders briefly before trailing down her arms.

“You act as if we can just forget the past.”

“Not forget.” He turned her wrist and pushed something cold and jagged into her palm. “But we can learn from it and move forward.”

Avoiding his hardened glare, she unfurled her fingers and stared down at a modern brass key. “What does it open?”

“Both doors to this room. It’s the only copy,” he added. “So don’t lose it.”

“You changed the locks?”

“You stole the master,” he reminded her.

Not trusting her voice, she closed her fingers around the key. One of the first skills she’d acquired after escaping was how to pick a lock. But Dylan wouldn’t have known that.

“I need to do a few things,” he said, turning toward the outer door. “You know where my office is. Meet me there when you’re ready. I’ll show you around the kitchen and larder.” His hand rested on the doorknob, and he watched her with hooded eyes, as if he expected her to renege on her offer to cook, or run for dear life.

She didn’t intend to do either. “Just give me fifteen minutes to wash up and change my clothes.”

It was time to stop running, as her mother had irritatingly, and rightly, suggested. And perhaps . . . her belly gave a little flip at the mere thought . . . perhaps she may even fight for what her heart wanted.

In response, his features stilled, darkened, as if he sensed her thoughts. The effect was disquieting, reminding her—and maybe him as well—that not all their memories in this room were unhappy ones. Her gaze lingered on his mouth, feeling as if the pine wood floors had just given way under her feet.

“Sophie . . .” His knuckles turned white around the doorknob, and the wooden door gave a groan as if too much pressure had been applied. He released his hand and stepped into the hallway. “This room is yours,” he said through the open doorway, putting space between them. “I want you to feel safe here. I’ll not disturb you, or come to you at night. But you need to remember that I’ve been sixteen years without my mate. I’ll do my best to keep my distance until you’re ready to accept your future here . . . until you’re ready to accept me.” His voice took on a sensual timbre, full of dark promise. “However, the next time you stare at my mouth as you’ve just done . . . I will use it upon you.”

Teaser Excerpt from Celtic Moon:

“I’m going for a run,” Dylan said dryly, taking off toward the woods. His people had wronged Sophie. He was convinced of that now. And still she had come home to him, of her own free will—for their son.

His wolf clawed at his spine for release. Its fury, its need—its desire for the woman who’d had the courage to return for their child was no longer controllable.

The wolf wanted out.

Having her near and within reach was akin to pain.

Perhaps it was a good thing Sophie hadn’t invited him to stay, Dylan thought as he entered the forest, ripping off clothes as he walked. For if she had, he wasn’t sure if he could have controlled his hunger.

It had been too long.

When the Guardians hone in on Rosa, Luc must fight to protect his new bride. And as war descends, the unlikely allies discover their destinies are irrevocably entwined…

Available at Amazon and BN

Excerpt from Summer Moon:

Luc wrapped the knitted blanket around Rosa and draped it like a shawl. Fisting his hands around the corners, he pulled her forward, like a fish caught in a weir. Before she could guess his intent, she found herself on his lap, cocooned in heat and hot male skin, with her legs dangled over his knees.

“Now, is this so bad?” he taunted while tucking her head under his chin.

“I suppose not.” Pondering where to place her hands, she ended up curling them in her lap, while her shoulder rested in the crook between his arm and chest.

In truth, it was hypnotic setting on him like this—dangerously so, like the hush before a storm. The rise and fall of his torso as he breathed lulled like a male siren, along with the weight of his arms and the lure of his skin against her cheek. The most exquisite scent of forest and man wove around her senses. More tempting, underneath it all lay the hint of musk, of potent wolf waiting in the shadows to protect her if the human failed.

All her tension ebbed like a babe in caring arms. Away from Guardians and wrapped in strength; she’d not felt this safe since childhood. How sad that she’d found peace with a virtual stranger. And how easily she could become addicted.

Oh, yes . . . this was dangerous. “How long do we have to stay like this?”

“Shhhh . . .” His throat moved as he swallowed while his hands trailed up her thighs and under her sweater, but only to knead the muscles of her lower back.

As if she weren’t becoming a puddle of goo already.

Before long, her eyes grew heavy, drifted closed. Had he been waiting for this moment of surrender, she wondered drowsily, when her guard had dissolved enough to welcome his gentle game? And did she care? For this was far more pleasant than any others she’d been forced to play.

He shifted to the side and moved his shoulder, leaned a bit, and her head rolled back, only to be caught by the soft pressure of his mouth on hers. So tender she didn’t even open her eyes. Were a man’s lips supposed to be this soft? Like with other carnal acts, she had little experience with kissing, sadly enough.

Having known only violence or indifference, her perceptions reeled. Indeed, if this was passion, then she didn’t know how to respond. But she was curious enough to try. She would admit that to herself, and even to him if he asked . . . She was so hungry to know what others whispered about in giggly tones. How many stories had she heard, from Tesni and others, of their forbidden trysts and naughty secrets, only to feel like a bystander to their private joy?

“Open your mouth, Rosa.” The order came on a husky whisper against her lips.

Celebrating Passion's Sacred Dance--and Sexy Today--#MySexySaturday

So, the news, as you may have heard by now, is that our old friend Passion's Sacred Dance, is returning to the world, books. :) It's been offline for a little bit, here, but now is returned under a new publisher, 2nd Edition. It even has a new series name: Celtic Stewards Chronicles, and a stunning new cover.

So here's my snippet for My Sexy Saturday for this week. The theme was "Sexy Today" which the organizer said could have something to do with an older heroine. Well, I suppose we can throw the hero, Aaron, out there, since he's so old...

His eyes lost focus. “By the gods I worship, I think you’ll be the death of me. How’d I get so lucky?”

Aaron laid another kiss to her throat.

Stacy wondered how in the world she ever thought a busy life of passionless, loveless celibacy might be the way to go. She took the chance to speak a phrase she’d struggled to memorize. “Tá grá agam duit.” I love you.

Aaron shuddered in her arms, his gaze searching her eyes. His hands slipped across her back in soothing, sensuous strokes. “You’ve been studying.”

She nodded. “I realize I probably mangled the pronunciation, but yes.”

“You pronounced it perfectly.” He kissed her cheek lightly.

Stacy is still learning, even at her age, which is.... ahem. She'd probably shoot me, if I told you that. ;) Let's just say she's a little younger than yours truly and much, much younger than Aaron, her aforementioned Celtic paramour, there. ;) Just how much younger? Well, you'll have to read the book to find that out!

Unless Stacy Macken can stave off her creditors, she may lose her renowned history center. Yet she knows in her heart that the center is sacred and what a catastrophe losing it would be. How much of a catastrophe, she hasn't a clue.

Until Aaron Fielding arrives with his tales of magical guardians and the Tuatha dé Danann, sworn warriors from Celtic legend who protect humanity from a wicked enemy seeking their destruction.

Is the end of the world imminent? What can she, a modern woman and her warrior lover, possibly have to offer when a long-prophesied druidic mythic battle explodes around them?

If you would like to check out  Passion's Sacred Dance, it's available at: Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Itunes, Kobo,  and Smashwords.

And the new trailer, if you'd like to see it:

Games of Chance, a fantasy novel by William L. Hahn

Games of Chance by William L. HahnGAMES OF CHANCE

William L. Hahn

In GAMES OF CHANCE, fantasy author William L. Hahn introduces readers to a fascinating fantasy world, where chaos is about to change everything. Solemn Justice, a young wizard, joins a band of gypsies after his father's death, before finding himself on the wrong side of the law with his fate in the hands of a scholar elf; Treaman the Woodsman and his group of explorers seek adventure and find monsters instead, a King reluctantly allows his son to become ambassador to their enemies. All lead up to what very well may be the fight of their lives. With nothing less than hope as the spoils of war.

In GAMES OF CHANCE, William L. Hahn has penned an exciting epic fantasy tale of magic, myth, and mayhem that I enjoyed very much. I think it's the perfect story for fans of Tolkien and Game of Thrones. Do check it out! If you'd like to add it to your Kindles/nooks what have you, GAMES OF CHANCE is available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Smashwords and in paperback. Enjoy!

And don't miss William's guest post, below. :) Enjoy!

Judgement's Tale--The Tale I Didn’t Trust Enough--guest post by WilliamL. Hahn

Today, I am pleased to welcome an author I've been trying to get to come over to our tribal grounds for a while. A fellow Fantasy author, William L. Hahn has always offered a kind ear, and some intriguing stories. So when I saw he had a new release, I couldn't help extending the invitation once again. Here's here to talk about how he conceived his latest sprawling tale, the Tales of Hope,  so do lend a kind ear while I give Will the floor. :)
The Tale I Didn’t Trust Enough

Some of my author colleagues —I think most—are pretty good at outlining their tales. In certain genres I know it’s almost a matter of formula to have a hero, a sidekick, an antagonist, and I enjoy reading those stories very much. My inability to do this is not a virtue. But it’s also not optional. I am a chronicler. Helpless, really, to do anything about what I see except to take it down.

And part of the reason I didn’t try to tell the Tales of Hope for so long is that I couldn’t see where the breaks were. If you woke up one morning after someone had read H.G. Wells’ A Short History of the World to you as you slept that might be something like it. Where to begin? Where to stop?

This week, part four of the story I call Judgement’s Tale comes out, putting roughly half the epic before my readers. It is my first and probably greatest opus, beginning the Age of Adventure in the Lands of Hope after centuries of Peace (or Emptiness, as the stubborn few refer to the previous age). So much changes there in just over a year.

And this book is only half the tale.

But I originally thought it was two.
Room for Two Heroes?

One side of Judgement’s Tale was well known to me almost from the beginning, and chronicling it brought the same feeling as slipping on those broken-in jeans. Treaman the Woodsman and his party rattled around inside the Percentalion until destiny fell out. Simply seeking adventure, with whatever fame or fortune that brought, was their only goal. The cursed kingdom at the center of the Lands, where the rules of space and time seemed increasingly suspended, formed the perfect excuse to risk their lives and to outrage right-thinking folk in Trainertown on its border with their stubborn propensity for survival.

Treaman learns, a bit, how to navigate the chaos-laden wastelands, and touches wonder when he meets Hallah and becomes her protector. At the end of this current installment Clash of Wills, the outdoorsman from Novar will find himself in more peril than he can handle, and catches a first glimpse of the destiny he’s facing along with his comrades.

All well and good. A great tale if I do say so. Why mess it up?

Problem is, paths entwine in a story as large as this: we’re seating kings, dispelling demons (I should Hope!), in fact ushering in a new age as I said. Everybody is affected (and people being what they are in every world, few of them are pleased). After many years of watching and taking notes, I had to admit that for all the exploits of Treaman and his band, this is Judgement’s Tale.

So back up, rewind and look at the first day this remarkable youth stepped onto the Lands at age fifteen, when he was simply:
… a boy on the seashore, burying his father.

Solemn Judgement, known and disliked around the Lands as The Man in Grey, is hundreds of miles away, alone, orphaned, and studying as the adventurers are pursuing their craft. The driven, serious fellow bears a terrible sense of purpose as he tries to unlock the reason he is here, what he should do in his adopted country. His powers remain unknown to everyone and most of all himself, but what he does learn in the Sages Guild of the City of Wonders carries him to the heart of the threat facing people he has never met, and indeed all the Children of Hope.

Neither hero sees himself as one; Judgement and Treaman simply work hard at the job before them. Each comes with a supporting roster of friends, rivals, acquaintances, not only doubling the size of the cast but in many cases refusing to stay where they were put. Natasha is a motherly tutor to start, a powerful healer with an adventurous past, and finally reveals herself as one of the most important persons born in the century. Haltar is the party leader who never quite fits the role. And Cedrith: what will history make of this kind, fearful but so solidly decent Elf in years to come? A noble knight who refuses to marry, a scribe’s assistant who cannot stay at home. Everywhere I looked I saw the outline-writer’s equivalent of a giant mess. Like my room in high school, nothing was where it belonged. As I turned to this tale, step one was to admit it was twice the size it “should” be. And to chronicle it anyway.
The Distractions Don’t Matter

Step two was to ignore the “you can’t” voices, which in the end all came from inside my head. As my lovely wife put it so eloquently, “what do you mean, in high school?”. I’ll be a hundred and thirty-seven years old before the mess takes care of itself. I admitted what the tale was, took in both heroes, and started to show readers what I was seeing back in 2009. The tale is lovingly polished, grows to a good climax, and most importantly, it continues.

I wouldn’t flatter myself that I have any great advice for other, real authors out there. It’s another case for the Never Give Up files, I suppose: writing Judgement’s Tale got me started in my vocation to chronicle the Lands of Hope, and knowing this novel was in the trunk carried me through the other tales, in the southern empire at a later date, which have also been published since. In them, you hear of how much the world has altered, and Treaman is still adventuring, Judgement still wandering. Now you’ll see why. More often than not, they make a mess. But they never give up. And the tale continues.

Trust me!

(Judgement’s Tale part 4) is available for preorder and comes out May 1st 2015.
Blurb for Clash of Wills (Judgement's Tale part 4)

Treaman and his adventuring party discover just how quickly fame and fortune evaporate back in the clutches of the Percentalion; three miserable survivors of that chaos-cursed land will die unless the star-gazing preacher Alaetar can beat back the monsters at their heels. And Solemn Judgement, the Man in Grey, faces an undead thane of ancient times and must decide whether the only friends he has ever made will live, or if the Lands will again suffer the curse of Despair after his… Clash of Wills. Volume Four of Judgement’s Tale.

Author Will L. HahnWill Hahn has been in love with heroic tales since age four, when his father read him the Lays of Ancient Rome and the Tales of King Arthur. He taught Ancient-Medieval History for years, but the line between this world and others has always been thin; the far reaches of fantasy, like the distant past, still bring him face to face with people like us, who have choices to make.

Will didn't always make the right choices when he was young. Any stick or vaguely-sticklike object became a sword in his hands, to the great dismay of his five sisters. Everyone survived, in part by virtue of a rule forbidding him from handling umbrellas, ski poles, curtain rods and more.

Will has written about the Lands of Hope since his college days (which by now are also part of ancient history). His current epic is Judgement’s Tale; parts one and two, Games of Chance and Strength of Conviction came out in 2014 and part three, Reunion of Souls is available starting December 26th.

Will’s Weirdly Whimsical Website is where he posts news about upcoming releases and blogs about writing, classic fantasy works you’ve never read and the unique photo-based series “It Figures”.

The Lands of Hope Facebook page contains a chronology of the Lands.

Thank you for that glimpse into Judgement and Treaman's lives, Will! I hope our readers will find the story intriguing. I know I've enjoyed it. My review (s) will be coming soon. Until then, folks, do check out Clash of Wills.
