First for the paranormal or Christmas mystery lover, my Christmas paranormal mystery romance MURDER UPON A MIDNIGHT CLEAR is also on sale. List Price= $8.25, is on sale for $8.05.
'Tis the season ... for death. Murder reminds Detective Helene Collias of Holly PD that crime doesn't respect holidays. And the last victim she ever expected to find in her case files is the sister of her old flame, Sean Grant. Ordinarily, Helene's psychic gifts give her an edge but this time, that gift has short-circuited. Could her lingering attraction to Sean be blurring her abilities, or is something more sinister at work?

This one is...well, a little higher on the heat scale than my other books. If you'd like it, it's available at Createspace or Amazon. If you wish you can borrow this one with Amazon Prime!

For the New Adult fantasy or fairy tale lover, CHANGELING'S CROWN is on sale:

When Ianthe began her career as a faery godmother, she stumbled so badly that Snow White will probably never speak to her again. After a long suspension, she’s finally been given a chance to redeem herself…but everything on this latest assignment is going wrong. But why?

Worse, she definitely doesn’t need an attractive mortal man distracting her from her duties. Of course, needs and wants are two different things.

Briak has had his eye on Ianthe for a very, very long time, but he’s been waiting for just the right moment to make his move. Despite the fact all hell’s about to break loose on his watch...

Passion's Sacred Dance, by Juli D. Revezzo, Pagan paranormal fiction, pagan paranormal romance, borrow with Amazon Prime
And finally, my Celtic flavored paranormal romance, PASSION'S SACRED DANCE.

How much of a catastrophe, she hasn't a clue. Until Aaron Fielding arrives with his tales of magical guardians and the Tuatha dé Danann, sworn warriors from Celtic legend who protect humanity from a wicked enemy seeking their destruction. Is the end of the world imminent? What can she, a modern woman and her warrior lover, possibly have to offer when a long-prophesied druidic mythic battle explodes around them?

New release: Do you sing a mournful melody?

I have a new release! Entitled “Sing A Mournful Melody” it’s a piece I have been sitting on for quite a while. Thanks to my mentor, Patty G. Henderson, it finally sees the light of day. :) Set in 1900, it is a short historical Gothic fantasy–with vampires. :) Yes, yes, I know, but I couldn’t resist. My heroine (Maribelle) needed someone extraordinary to…well, you’ll have to read it yourself to see what she needs him for.

Synposis:

At the turn of the 20th century, tragedy has left Maribelle grief-stricken. After her beloved husband is murdered, his body disappears from his crypt. Worse, ghostly voices call from the widow's Graphophone. Is she losing her mind, or does something wicked this way come?

 Cover art:
Sing A Mournful Melody by Juli D. Revezzo, Gothic Fiction, vampire fiction, Short Story

What's a Graphophone, you ask? Well, it's something Alexander Graham Bell created, something of a competitor and precursor to Edison's Gramophone and instead of using a disk for recording and listening, it used a cylinder. They're pretty nifty little devices, so I thought, perfect for Maribelle's home use. But hers is...well, a little...off. You'll have to read to see what I mean. :)

I always hesitate to classify myself, but yeah, I hear tell this is right at home next to Cait and her ghosts. (I tried to get it out by Halloween, but things didn't go to plan....) Still, I do try to channel my inner H.P. Lovecraft on pieces like this. *g* And, of course, there's soundtrack for this one, besides Mozart's Lacrimosa, there's this:

Apparently, it's long enough to warrant a preview on Amazon, so here's a little taste of the opening:

London, 1900
“Jonah, my love,” Maribelle said, leaning her head against the carriage window. “Jonah.” The gloom descended on her beloved’s shining new crypt. No matter she knew the logical truth that the marble had been replaced she could still see its cracks. Weeks had passed since the destruction and yet, she remembered as if it were yesterday. Who had violated this terrible tomb?

No answer here or anywhere. As the carriage pulled away from the graveyard, Maribelle determined that this would be the last time she left him there alone.

Once home, she took in the room: There Jonah’s piano stood underneath the wide windows, strewn with sheet music she dare not touch as if it comprised some necromantic charm to bring him home. Letters from her mother. “Come visit,” they said one after another. “Come ease your grief with us.” Mere visitations wouldn’t lighten her heart, she knew. How could they, when the one balm she needed lay under six feet of cold earth? Like some mummy in the ancient desert.

The Graphophone waited beside this piano-shaped monument of dead wood, eager to fill her lonely nights with Jonah’s music. All she had left of him now...

****
If you would like to read more of the story, "Sing a Mournful Melody" is currently available in Kindle Select/Unlimited. You can get it here.  I've also added it to Good Reads, too. If you'd like to add it to your To Be Read lists you can do so here.

If you'd like to review it on GR or on Amazon, please do. Reviews are very important to authors. I hope you enjoy this short offering. :)

The Gothic Romances of Patty G. Henderson: Nostalgia, Homage and Diversity

These are two posts that, a sudden trip, interrupted my posting. Though they reference Halloween, I'm sorry, I'm just getting to posting them now. Still, I hope you enjoy them!

Befitting the Halloween season, we move now into the land of spooky castles, haunted moors, and heroines stuck in a foreboding situation, ladies determined to unlock the riddles and curses upon their beloveds lives and homes. Yep, I mean Gothic Romances. Don't you just love them? I am happy to have a friend along who not only adores them, but writes them as well. Author Patty G. Henderson (who has been called the Queen of Gothics!) dropped by upon this witching hour to talk about the genre and her latest release, a Gothic lesbian romance, SHADOWS OF THE HEART. I've had a sneak peek of it and it looks like another winner. :) While I go grab an ice cream float--erm, cup of tea--settle back and let's visit this enchanting realm together, shall we?

Guest post by Patty G. Henderson
Anyone remember those corner drugstores that dotted every city and small town in America during the 50s, 60, and 70s? You know, the one with the small soda fountain counter with aluminum stools covered in colorful vinyl where you could order cheap hot dogs, sodas and malts. And somewhere in the middle of the drugstore was an old metal rack stuffed with paperback books with covers that were bold, colorful and some would say, cheap. Romances, science fiction, and adventure tales. And if you were lucky, some great Gothic Romances. You could tell they were Gothic Romances because of the dark, painted covers featuring a frightened heroine running from a stormy castle or mansion in the middle of a night or at the foot of some deserted lighthouse. Ah, yes, I loved those Gothic Romances.

In my neighborhood, we had Cox’s Drugstore. It was exactly how I described above, right down to a rack full of paperbacks with lots of Gothic Romances stuck among the tawdry regular romances and other paperbacks. I discovered some of my faves there, like Mary Stewart, Phyllis Whitney and Victoria Holt. But I also discovered many authors who never became famous or household names. But many of those wrote my favorite kind of Gothic Romance. The Historical Gothic Romance. So many of the Gothic Romance classics of those hey days were actually written in their contemporary times. But I always preferred the Gothics set back in the 1800s. Those were not as common as you might think. The Gothic Historical Romance is almost like a sub-sub-genre of Gothic Romance.

But these were all written for and consumed by the mainstream readers. Girl meets boy. Beautiful heroine and brooding hero. Very straight and very heterosexual. But what about the Gothic Romance in today’s alternative and encompassing reading public? As a lesbian writer writing within the lesbian fiction niche, I wanted to bring my love for the classic, traditional Gothic Romance to a whole new group of readers: Lesbians looking for lesbian fiction. Why not bring the atmosphere, the suspense, the beauty of Gothic Romance into the 21st Century? Beautiful heroine and brooding heroine! Girl meets girl. All the trappings, all the mood and drama and mystery, everything that makes a Gothic Romance a scrumptious read, to lesbian fiction readers. My wish was to pay homage to the classic Gothic Romance while offering alternative readers something to identify with.

I’ve written four Gothic Historical Romances for the lesbian fiction niche. But I would also like to think that anyone, whether gay or not, who loves a good Gothic Romance and can appreciate an homage to those classics but with a sexual twist, could read and appreciate my books.

My newest and latest Gothic Romance is SHADOWS OF THE HEART, released this September by Blanca Rosa Publishing.

This is the blurb to the book:

Shadows of the Heart by Patty G. Henderson, Gothic Romance, Lesbian Romance, available at Amazon

England during the early 1820s was a hostile place for unmarried women without family or home. After losing upper class standing because of her father's gambling habit and scandalous suicide, Annalee Stewart believes her fortunes improved when she is hired as companion to the young but sickly and frail Lady Lenore Blackstone. Although the adjustment from being a member of the wealthy class to finding oneself suddenly in service to it promises to be difficult, Annalee has no choice but to accept where fate has thrown her. She did not expect, however, to be thrown into the dark and dangerous world of poisons and premeditated murder forcing her into protector status as well as companion.

Annalee's growing attraction to Lenore, and Lenore's unexpected positive response, puts them both in the treacherous path of Lenore's husband, the cold and pre-occupied Earl of Blackstone. Annalee has also captured the eye of the Earl’s sister, Victoria. Her bold flirtations serve to confuse Annalee’s heart.

Thrown into this tumultuous triangle of love, seduction, and deception, Annalee must sort through her real feelings and confounded passions. Faced with the potential demise of one lover whilst falling inexplicably toward the heart of another, her own life is threatened from within Blackstone Castle. In the deepest shadows of love and loss, Annalee must feel her way through the darkness; face her fears and trust that she will uncover the beacon she needs to find her path to true love.

You’ll find all the trappings of the old, classic Gothic Historical Romances in SHADOWS OF THE HEART, as you will in each of my other Gothic Romances and I do hope you will take the chance and read my newest and latest, SHADOWS OF THE HEART, and try the other three Gothics as well, THE SECRET OF LIGHTHOUSE POINTE, CASTLE OF DARK SHADOWS and PASSION FOR VENGEANCE. All are available as eBooks and trade paper on Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com.
Thank you to Juli for allowing me to introduce you to my homage to the classic Gothic Romance in a new set of clothes!

You're welcome, Patty! It's always a pleasure to have you visit.

Patty G. Henderson is an author, artist and publisher. She loves historical fiction, especially historical mysteries, film and television. She’s also a fan of supernatural literature and films, and the author of the Brenda Strange Paranormal Mystery Series as well as three Gothic Historical Romances and several anthologies.

“My passion to write comes from a desire to entertain. Nothing more. I come from a family who loved to tell tales around the dinner table, my grandmother fondest of ghost stories. If I’ve managed to lure a reader into another place and time, and after they close the book, the story still lingers, then I’ve done what I love doing as a writer.”

“If I succeeded in doing that, I would be very grateful if you took a few minutes to write a review on Amazon for SHADOWS OF THE HEART or any of my books that you should happen across. Reviews can be very helpful, and I absolutely love to read the various insights from satisfied readers. Thank you so very much. Until we meet again…”

Something Wicked In LA--What happens with Demons by Suzanne G. Rogers

I love the Halloween season, don't you? It's the one time of the year when we can get a bang out of scaring ourselves silly. ;) Okay, paranormal fans get that giddy feeling every day of the year when they go ghost hunting or pick up a favorite book on the subject, but still, to the rest of the world, it's the one time of the year. So, once again, I've gathered up some pals to celebrate this fun time of the year. Today, we start off with author S. G. Rogers whose baddies in her new book Something Wicked In L.A., fit very well into this spooky time of year. So let's offer up the candy and welcome, Suzanne G. Rogers! (although, maybe not because now, I have an earworm stuck in my head. Let me see if where that dungeon key is.... ;) No? Oh very well. My assistants are telling me I shouldn't open the dungeon. Who knows, they say, what might crawl out. *shudder* So we'll just go put on some Metallica and let that be the theme for dear Suzanne G. Rogers' little talk about...

What Happens With Demons

Halloween! It's the most wonderful time of the year… Okay, perhaps that’s a Christmas tune, but the point still stands.

I don’t know what can be more fun than to dress up as something or someone else, and one's costume is only limited by one's creativity! Similarly, I unleashed my creativity when I sat down to write Something Wicked IN LA, my first full-length paranormal novel. It’s set in Los Angeles, where all good ghouls go to strut their stuff, and uses much of the local geography and natural phenomenon to fashion an otherworldly paradigm. The premise revolves around the modern-day Nephilim (offspring of sons of God and daughters of men) who have banded together to fight demons. Amongst the Nephilim, there’s one law than cannot be broken; the Leap Day birth prohibition. If a Nephilim born on Leap Day is sacrificed in a demonic ritual on his or her eighteenth birthday, it will result in the Apocalypse. Despite their best intentions, Tori’s parents give birth to her on Leap Day and must go into hiding to save her life. Tori is kept in the dark, of course, and almost eighteen years later, she and her friends must figure out who she can trust and who wants to kill her. Enjoy the excerpt, below, and most of all…

Happy Halloween! ~ Suzanne G. Rogers

Excerpt:
The address Cody had given Felicia was for a former movie props and costume warehouse in Hollywood. The large brick edifice had a For Rent sign posted and a pair of enormous demons were patrolling the walkway out front. As Tori dismounted Raven’s motorcycle, her eyes widened at the size of the seven-foot tall creatures.
“What are those?” she whispered. “Trolls?”
“Security goblins,” Raven said. “You don’t want to mess with security goblins. They’re much harder to kill than other sorts of demons.”
Felicia pulled a small spray bottle out of her pocket. “Lift your hair so I can spray this on your neck, Tori.”
“Is that perfume?”
“Colloidal silver. Discourages vamps from taking a nibble.”
A pang of fear shot through Tori, along with a surge of adrenaline. “Would they really do that?”
“It’s considered bad manners for anyone to eat, maim, or kill one another at these sorts of parties, but accidents have been known to happen. Better safe than sorry.”
Felicia sprayed Tori, Raven, her brother, and herself with the clear, odorless liquid, and then they crossed the dark street toward the warehouse. One of the security goblins pointed them to the side entrance of an adjacent soundstage, which was guarded by another pair of goblins dressed up as ancient Egyptian pharaohs. Inside the door, a woman clad in a gold toga sat behind a replica of an Egyptian coffin.
Tori leaned closer to Raven. “I’m sensing a theme.”
The toga-clad woman peered at them through her heavy black eyeliner. “Who invited you?”
“Cody Mime,” Felicia said.
The woman’s severe expression softened. “That goat’s a charmer.” Her shiny black hair rippled, and Tori realized it was actually a mass of asps. “All right, boys and girls. No weapons past this point. No fighting with anyone. No photographs or video. Trash talk is strictly prohibited. What happens at the party stays at the party. Do you agree to abide by these rules?”
