.38 Caliber Cover-Up

published by Harlequin Intrigue, February, 2011
In Angi Morgan*’s latest Harlequin Intrigue, .38 Caliber Cover-Up, DEA agent Errin Rhodes is having a bad night. In trying to apprehend the murderers of his mentor, unfortunately, he finds the bust he’s worked weeks on going wrong. Shot, abandoned by his backup, ends up running, without the killers in hand that he was after. His only clue to apprehending the murderers now leads him straight to Officer Darby O’Malley, who isn’t elated to find a stranger bleeding on her back porch and demanding some package of which she’s supposed to know. Further confusion comes when a fellow police officer arrives, and starts shooting at she and Errin.
All Darby knows is that Errin somehow knows her brother Michael, who currently lies in a coma, accused of having killed her partner, the cops who are supposed to be on her side are now against her, and that there’s something seriously sexy about agent Errin Rhodes. And if comatose Michael dies, they might be out of luck with respects to clearing his name. The question is not only one of time, but who can they trust? Can they trust the lawyers and undercover agents who are supposed to be helping them? Can they trust the clues left to them by two men who are, as it were, out of commission? Can they trust themselves, when they’re becoming all kinds of distracted by each other?
Busy and fast paced from the start, fans of twisting turning plots will enjoy this Angi Morgan’s .38 Caliber Cover-Up, I think. If you’d like to check it out, it’s still available online at the Harlequin site, Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com
(Thanks to Angi for my review copy, and the fabulous class you gave the RWA Pro loop! ;))
As usual there is a slightly different version up at the Examiner, here. If you care to give it a click, I thank you for your support.
