In her romantic suspense novel, Target, Judith Rochelle sets her heroine Kathryn Holt into the middle of mess. When Kathryn visits her late father’s Tampa law firm, she overhears a conversation she shouldn’t. Her father’s partner—and coincidentally her fiancé—Peter Fleming is having a little late night chat with someone, in which they are planning to kill her, as she is in the way of their “business”. Panicked, Kathryn snatches a small flash drive from the firm’s laptop computer, and escapes Tampa—and Peter’s clutches—just in the nick of time.

But they know she’s got that flash drive and because of what precious information it contains, Peter and his cohorts (a very large drug cartel) go into overdrive searching for her, something that doesn’t escape the feds after them. Despite her attempts to hide, the cartel will do anything, go anywhere to catch the meddling Kate (as she's now calling herself), before she and the flash drive fall into the wrong hands.

Unfortunately, Kate’s a wee bit smarter than they anticipated and always one step ahead of them. Somehow, she makes it out of Tampa alive, all the way to Texas, where she ends up on the side of a highway in the middle of the night, with a broke down excuse for a car, a bad case of nerves, and assisted by Quinn, a man who has had his own bumpy road in life—and soon Kate is head over heels in love with him. And Quinn, well, he’s the one man Peter and the drug cartel fear even more than the federal agents on their butts. (hehe) But they still want that flash drive, and they just might go through any obstacle to get it, no matter how many people die in the process.

In Judith Rochelle’s Target, I found a lot to love. I know, I know, I say that all the time, but hey set it in my hometown, and if it’s done well, I’ll probaby love it. This one I can say I did! :) It took me a while to get through it, being I got the ebook and we’ve been having “electricity issues” here, but, I wanted to know: Would Kate escape the syndicate’s clutches? Would Peter ever get his ego deflated, or survive the disdain of his cohorts? (and I swear I laughed a couple time—and started feeling bad at the way poor Peter gets lambasted, even though he was a rat you-know-what.) Could Quinn keep it together long enough to keep the woman he’s fallen in love with alive—and what is his story, anyway? That’s what I wondered, and no, I’m not going to tell you what happens. If you want to see for yourself, Target is available at The Wild Rose Press website, in both ebook and trade paperback format (as is the second book in Ms. Rochelle's Protector’s series—just released). Do check it out. I’m sure you will be pleased!

My rating?  I guess I'll say a straight 5 pearls again. The surprise of finding it set partially in Tampa just has me giddy, so I may be a wee bit biased because of that. ;)

At any rate, if you try it, and I hope you do, I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did! Oh and I have (yes, I know you saw this coming) a different version of this one over at my Examiner pages, if you'd please be so kind as to give it a click. :)As ever, thanks!
